The cool temperatures have many of us anxious to head outdoors and enjoy the crisp air.
The beautiful display of leaves is spectacular to look at while still on the branches but of
course, when they hit ground there's the chore of having to rake them up.

One hazard to keep in mind and avoid this fall season--Bees, mosquitoes, spiders and
snakes love to hide under leaves and plants as the temperatures cool. Serious bites are
rare-but these critters are prone to defending themselves since you're invading their natural
habitat.

So, if you're outdoors raking or just doing some fall clean-up chores--Just stay alert, wear
gloves and other protective clothing. Also, don't antagonize these pests if you have an
encounter.

When it comes to avoiding insect bites-use a bug repellant that contains DEET. Don't wear
perfumes or scented hair spray when going outdoors. Have bee hives removed from your
property and make sure to wear shoes when walking in the grass.

Minor bug bites can usually be treated with over the counter remedies like a local anesthetic
like benzocaine and and a antihistamine but if you start to experience serious symptoms
such as severe swelling or itching, dizziness or difficulty breathing you need immediate
medical attention
