YOGA FOR INFLEXIBLE PEOPLE
If you're thinking about starting yoga-but you don't think you're supple enough...we have the
DVD for you, It's called Yoga for Inflexible People. Yoga Practitioner Judi Rice takes her thirty
years of experience as a yoga instructor to show some simple modifications to make intimidating
traditional yoga positions more accessible to people who could not otherwise perform or more
importantly perform the positions correctly. Recently, YOGA JOURNAL gave the DVD the thumbs
up. You get more than 35 workouts and about four hours of instruction and practice in all. Some
of the poses are beginning level; others are not. To get started, all you'll need is a yoga mat,
blocks (or large books), a long strap or belt, a chair, and blankets. One nice thing about this DVD
program is no matter how flexible you are, these customized workouts allow you to progress at
your own pace. Workouts include: relaxation, energizing, flexibility, and strengthening.

We're taking a look at a must-have book for you baby boomers. "Breaking The Rules of Aging" by
geriatric specialist Dr. David Lipschitz dismisses all those myths about being frail and dependent.
The book is written in easy to understand layman's terms. The key message is…if you want to be
a healthy happy senior-it's important to start focusing "now" during your "younger" years on a
healthy lifestyle and disease prevention. If you read this book-it might just inspire you to start that
strength training program which is a great way to get a healthy start on your "golden years'.
BREAKING THE RULES OF AGING
HEAL YOUR HEADACHE
We have something for all the millions of Americans who are plagued by Migraine Headaches.
You may want to pick up this new book-written by Dr. David Buchholz from Johns Hopkins. "Heal
Your Headache"-takes a three-step approach to taking charge of your headache pain. Several
secrets includes avoiding quick fix painkillers, they can actually cause rebound headaches.
Secret two: minimize food triggers like caffeine, perfumes and stress. For hardcore cases, use
preventative medications. The book is very readable and full of good advice and may spell relief
for you!

THE HEALTHY KITCHEN
There are millions of healthy cook books out there but what struck me about The Healthy Kitchen
is that Dr. Andrew Weil and spa-chef Rosie O'Daley provide interesting banter about their
different cooking preferences. But their diverse roads lead to the same destination… the end
result is a colorful and well-informed cookbook covering everything from the simple to the difficult.
My favorite is the baked vegetable wontons..time consuming-but well worth the wait!

THE PERRICONE PRESCRIPTION
We've all heard the old saying "You Are What You Eat", and on this week's reference desk we take
a look at the Perricone Prescription by dermatologist Nicholas Perricone. His guiding principle is to
reduce inflammation at the cellular level, which Perricone believes causes the skin to age and is also
linked to degenerative disease. Perricone suggests that protein and some fat is essential for
everyone. He is especially keen on the benefits of fish-you better like salmon. Certain foods high in
carbohydrates such as cereals, breads, bananas are taboo in this plan because of their high sugar
index. Besides hitting on the importance of fitness when it comes to healthy vibrant skin, Perricone
has a mega list of recommended supplements, which can be a bit hard to swallow for some people.
Overall, there is a wealth of good information in the book.
THE HAPPIEST BABY ON THE BLOCK
On this weeks reference desk-we have the book turned DVD "The Happiest Baby on The Block"

to stand by helplessly while your little one cries and cries!" The Happiest Baby on the Block
outlines several concepts such as "The Calming Reflex" and "The Cuddle Cure," which he
discovered through research and his own personal experience. The DVD also takes a look at
effective techniques around the world. Dr. Karp's helpful pointers have helped parents such as
actress Michelle Pfeiffer and Madonna.
THE SENDONA METHOD
When it comes to peace of mind, I think we're all looking for a little bit more of it. That's why on this

to help readers take their mind off of negative thoughts -it's sort of a learning experience on the art of
growth. The Sedona Method is a great resource when it comes to finding lasting happiness and
letting go of the bad-so you have plenty of energy to reach for the good in life.

discussions of loss and disappointment in his personal and professional life since 1999. Plus, he also
hits on how he handles the constant struggles with work/life balance. In every second counts
